(CHEK is passing this information on. This is an independent event.)
Stamp collecting is a fun and effective way to learn, and the American Philatelic Society is the oldest and largest stamp collecting organization in the world.
From January 18-20, 2013 we will be holding our annual winter Stamp Show -- AmeriStamp Expo 2013 -- in Louisville! It will feature about 75 dealers, 300+ frames of exhibits, and participation of about 25 national societies.
The "inverted Jenny," one of the most valuable and treasured stamps in the world, will be among the frames of exhibits.
Dime and dollar booths, where dealers must sell all their stamps for 10-cents or less and all their covers (envelopes) for $1.00 or less, are included among the more than 160 dealers expected at the show.
But the best part - the APS YOUTH ZONE. This is where you can bring your homeschooler so he/she can learn about stamp collecting. Visit the Owney Center and learn about the dog that was the mascot for the Railway Mail Service. Go on a Scavenger Hunt for stamps, design a stamp, complete a "stamp story," and take home lots of stamps to start their very own stamp collection.
And while the children are enjoying the activities, you may request a free educator's packet which contains ideas for using stamps with your homeschoolers.
Admission to the Stamp Show is free for all! However, you do need to register and receive a badge to enter the show floor. Pre-registration may be done on our website at
http://stamps.org/AmeriStamp- Expo-ASE.
Our location will be the Kentucky International Convention Center, located at 221 South Fourth Street, Louisville.
Show hours: are:
Fri. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sat. 10 a.m. - 6.pm.
Sun. 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
I hope you will be able to join us at the show,
